A novel way of sensitising the public to the issues addressed by the FoodCAST project is Foodly, a free iPad and iPhone app which, through an interactive quiz, tests the user’s knowledge about food and all things related: from economics to society, biology, agriculture, econophysics and neuroscience.
Foodly can be played by downloading the free app from the iTunes Store or by accessing the website foodcast.sissa.it/foodly/. Then, after choosing one of three levels of difficulty (easy, intermediate, difficult) players can test their food awareness by answering different types of questions, putting the right products into their shopping cart, putting them into the right order or selecting their correct value. Correct answers add to the score, which can then be posted on Facebook to challenge other players.
